CVBL: Oklahoma Cty Edges Out Dallas in Overtime 121 - 117
Golden had a great effort today, helping Oklahoma Cty avoid disaster and beat Dallas 121-117 in overtime. After the game, Golden was thrilled to get the win but upset with his teammates' effort. "I don't know what they were thinking at the start. I guess they thought our reputation would get us the win, but it looked to me like the score was 0-0 at the beginning and we needed to put some points on the board to win. Whatever it was, I had to yell and scream for half the game before we got any sort of team effort going. I guess it was barely enough - any less and we wouldn't have gotten into overtime to begin with."
Dallas coach Bob was impressed with Golden, but disappointed that his chance slipped through his fingers. "We had our chances and didn't make the best of them," he said. "It's partly because of Golden's play, and partly because of our own mistakes."
Oklahoma Cty was led by Golden (31 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Stanford (31 points, 1 assists), Johnson (25 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a block). Dallas was led by Schmidt (25 points, 4 assists, 2 steals), Givens (20 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Langley (19 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, a steal).
Oklahoma Cty stand at 36-22. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and remain at #5 overall in the Western Conference. Dallas stand at 25-30 and 13-14 at home with the loss. They hold at #3 in the Southwest and remain at #11 overall in the Western Conference.
