CVBL: Memphis Wins
Calloway continues to dominate the league and helped Memphis post an expected win over Utah, 83-73. The game was a solid team effort, but Calloway - a favorite for post-season honors - was outstanding, completely overshadowing a great performance by Utah key player, Brown.
Calloway's coach, Bob, had nothing but praise for his star. "He's just special. It's something just to sit back and watch him do his thing. He certainly brings pride to Memphis fans everywhere." Utah coach Coach Young was concilliatory after the game as well. "When Calloway is doing his thing, you just hope you can keep him under control. We didn't, though Brown certainly did his part. We really thought we could win this game, so the locker room is pretty quiet right now. We'll just have to turn our focus to next week."
Memphis was led by Calloway (27 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, a steal), Whitfield (16 points, 16 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Dimascio (17 points, 1 assists, a steal, 2 blocks). Utah was led by Brown (16 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, 5 blocks), Richards (10 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Petroff (10 points, 0 assists, a block).
Memphis are now 41-15 and 22-6 at home. They stay at #1 in the Southwest and stay at #1 overall in the Western Conference. Utah fall to 22-36. They stay at #4 in the Northwest and hold at #10 overall in the Western Conference.
