CVBL: Minnesota Surprises Indiana
Minnesota pulled off the 102-98 upset of Indiana today, thanks to a mistake-filled game. "We stank," said losing coach Coach Hitch. "We beat them around like high-schoolers whenever we played like we usually do, but that wasn't often enough. There's just no excuse for that type of play. I suppose we just got overconfident; I mean Indiana isn't exactly a top-notch team. But we sure stank it up out there."
Minnesota coach Bob focused more on the positives. "Coach Hitch can say what he wants, but we really managed to knock them out of their usual plan. Would that have happened if they weren't playing anybody? He makes it sound like they gave the game away, but the truth is that we played with them the whole way and were in position to capitalize when our chances came."
Minnesota was led by Lundy (21 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 4 blocks), Mark (16 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Prince (11 points, 10 assists, a steal). Indiana was led by Lake (8 points, 5 boards, 14 assists, 3 steals, a block), Sigler (21 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Gray (23 points, 11 boards, 1 assists).
With the victory, Minnesota improve to 27-33. They hold at #5 in the Northwest and hold at #11 overall in the Western Conference. With the defeat, Indiana are now 34-28 and 20-10 at home. They stay at #2 in the Central and stay at #6 overall in the Eastern Conference.
