CVBL: Oklahoma Cty Comes up Big Over Washington
Hernandez led Oklahoma Cty to victory today over Washington in a 105-98 game. "It was a tough one to lose," said losing coach Bob. "I thought we had a great chance going in, and even now I think we'd have a great chance in a rematch. But Hernandez made the difference for his team, and we really didn't have an answer today."
Oklahoma Cty coach Bob was equally admiring of his star. "Washington were very well prepared for this game, and our boys weren't really ready for what they faced out there. I like to believe that we'd play a better all-around game when we play them again, but we'll be happy riding Hernandez and getting the win today."
Oklahoma Cty was led by Hernandez (14 points, 15 assists, 2 steals), Johnson (22 points, a block), Golden (13 points, 6 boards, 0 assists). Washington was led by Washington (20 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, a block), Smith (22 points, 2 steals, a block), Patterson (18 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a block).
With today's victory, Oklahoma Cty improve to 38-22 and 24-10 at home. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and remain at #5 overall in the Western Conference. Washington keep stumbling with a losing streak of 5 games and drop to 17-42. They stay at #5 in the Southeast and remain at #14 overall in the Eastern Conference.
