CVBL: Charlotte Over Minnesota

A solid outing by Plungis led Charlotte to a 116-106 win over Minnesota. "Take away Plungis, and we'd have won this thing," said Minnesota coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Charlotte over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."

Charlotte coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Plungis do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Plungis will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."

Charlotte was led by Plungis (31 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 4 blocks), Johnson (6 points, 4 steals), White (19 points, 2 assists, a steal, a block). Minnesota was led by Edwards (20 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Evans (8 points, 6 boards, 12 assists, a block), Olson (24 points, a block).

With the win, Charlotte improve to 38-22 and 21-7 at home. They hold at #2 in the Southeast and move up to #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. Minnesota fall to 17-41 after this loss. They remain at #5 in the Northwest and remain at #12 overall in the Western Conference.
