CVBL: Denver Gets Solid 102-89 Win
In one of the most important games of the season for both teams, Denver upstaged Oklahoma Cty 102-89. Showing more glitter than a Brittany Spears concert, perfect Denver execution, a brilliant game by Stanford, and impeccable play-calling by Bob provided all the right ingredients for a big win.
Madison was key for Oklahoma Cty, but after the game he looked like somebody had just run over his dog. "I thought we could do it. The whole game I was still thinking we were going to win. I guess that's the difference between thinking it and doing it. Give Denver credit - they are nothing but class. I just feel sorry for coach Bob. He had us ready and we let him down."
Denver was led by Stanford (12 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Hayes (11 points, a steal), Simmons (17 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a block). Oklahoma Cty was led by Madison (25 points, 0 assists), Uriegas (19 points, 0 assists, a steal), Owens (13 points, 1 assists, 2 blocks).
Denver stand at 44-17 after today's win. They hold at #1 in the Northwest and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Oklahoma Cty fall to 24-36 and 15-14 at home with today's defeat. They remain at #3 in the Northwest and remain at #9 overall in the Western Conference.
