CVBL: Coach Young Satisfied With Utah Win
Utah looked like champions today, beating Phoenix 97-84. "That's the best we've seen them for a while," said an overwhelmed Phoenix coach Bob. "None of the tapes we had of them showed the fluid execution that we saw out there today, and frankly we just weren't prepared as well as they were. I take full responsibility for that; with better preparation we could have won. Instead they just took over the game and never let us back in."
Utah was led by Feaster (15 points, 15 boards, 0 assists, a block), Hurd (18 points, a block), Smiley (10 points, 1 assists, 3 blocks). Phoenix was led by Fripp (27 points, 0 assists), Dupree (16 points, 15 boards, 0 assists), Hunt (8 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks).
Utah stand at 34-27. They hold at #3 in the Northwest and move up to #6 overall in the Western Conference. With the defeat, Phoenix are now 26-34 and 16-16 at home. They stay at #3 in the Pacific and move down to #11 overall in the Western Conference.
