CVBL: Memphis Downs Portland
Memphis looked like champions today, beating Portland 114-95. "That's the best we've seen them for a while," said an overwhelmed Portland coach Bob. "None of the tapes we had of them showed the fluid execution that we saw out there today, and frankly we just weren't prepared as well as they were. I take full responsibility for that; with better preparation we could have won. Instead they just took over the game and never let us back in."
Memphis was led by Whitfield (27 points, 9 boards, 0 assists), Manly (16 points, 4 blocks), Dimascio (23 points, 1 assists, a block). Portland was led by Williams (17 points, 2 assists, 2 steals), Hume (8 points, 5 boards, 9 assists, a steal), Thompson (8 points).
Memphis keep rolling with a winning streak of 10 games and are now 44-15 and 25-6 at home. They hold at #1 in the Southwest and stay at #1 overall in the Western Conference. Portland drop to 32-27. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and stay at #6 overall in the Western Conference.
