CVBL: Sacramento Downs Atlanta
Sacramento brushed past an overmatched Atlanta team today 99-88. Always politically correct, Sacramento coach Bob stated simply "We just managed to do what we needed to get done out there. The players had solid execution all around, and Stanford's effort helped set the pace. Atlanta is a team we've had success against in the past, which I think gave us a bit more confidence coming in."
Atlanta coach Bob was a little more frank. "We knew going in that we'd need a miracle to beat Sacramento, and we didn't get it. They have better players and a better coach, and did what they were supposed to do out there. I'm just glad the final score wasn't even worse."
Sacramento was led by Stanford (17 points, 17 boards, 2 assists, 3 blocks), Taylor (6 points, 11 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks), Sherrill (20 points, 2 blocks). Atlanta was led by Parker (14 points, 9 assists, 3 steals), Perry (13 points, 12 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Clay (15 points, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks).
Sacramento jump to 44-17. They hold at #2 in the Pacific and remain at #4 overall in the Western Conference. Atlanta stand at 18-42 and 11-17 at home after today's defeat. They remain at #4 in the Southeast and hold at #13 overall in the Eastern Conference.
