CVBL: Portland Schools Boston
Not that anybody expected today's Portland-Boston matchup to be terribly competitive, but this was almost comical. The 122-93 final score was enough of a headline, but the game wasn't even as close as that score indicated as Portland coach Bob played it conservative most of the game to avoid running up the score too much. "Boy, it's great to see our offense click like that," he said. "It's like a gourmet restaurant - everything on the menu looked good." Said losing coach Bob, "We were just outclassed, no question. We don't have the talent they do, and we weren't as prepared coming in. And it was definitely classy of Bob to pull his key players halfway through the game."
Portland was led by Jackson (37 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, 5 blocks), Smith (14 points, 5 steals), Mendez (18 points, 7 boards, 1 assists). Boston was led by Woodard (19 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Owens (23 points, 1 assists, a block), Morse (19 points, 5 boards, 0 assists).
After the win, Portland jump to 42-18 and 20-9 at home. They hold at #1 in the Northwest and improve to #2 overall in the Western Conference. Boston fall to 23-39. They remain at #5 in the Atlantic and stay at #11 overall in the Eastern Conference.
