CVBL: Brooklyn Surprises Denver 109-107
Brooklyn pulled off the upset, beating Denver in a game where nobody gave them much of a chance. Their prospects certainly looked bleak on paper, with most predictions giving Denver a solid win thanks to better skill at most positions. But head coach Bob came up with a marvelous game plan and kept Denver coach Bob guessing most of the game. This, as well as a number of solid performances by Alves and others, gave Brooklyn the edge they needed to come out on top. "I think we caught them by surprise," said Bob after the game. "They played like they expected the win to be handed to them, but we made some adjustments after studying their tendencies and it paid off."
Brooklyn was led by Alves (18 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Miller (5 points, 6 boards, 8 assists, 3 steals), Hester (15 points, 3 assists, 2 blocks). Denver was led by Chopp (17 points, 15 boards, 0 assists, a block), Wise (6 points, 6 boards, 13 assists, 2 steals), Davis (16 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a block).
After this victory, Brooklyn are now 29-30. They stay at #3 in the Atlantic and stay at #5 overall in the Eastern Conference. Denver stand at 29-33 and 17-14 at home. They remain at #5 in the Northwest and remain at #10 overall in the Western Conference.
