CVBL: Detroit Defeats Minnesota 104-94
Detroit beat Minnesota today in a 104-94 game that was close the whole way. For much of the game, it looked like Minnesota would be able to pull off the win, thanks in large part to an outstanding performance by Smith. But the tide finally turned in the end, with Detroit star Delgado leading his team to victory.
"Definitely a great game," said Detroit coach David Smith after the game. "The fans got their money's worth out of it, and both teams put up a good fight. We're just glad that we were able to finish strong and get the W. Delgado was a big part of that, and I don't think we'd have won without his efforts."
Detroit was led by Delgado (18 points, 13 boards, 1 assists), Price (6 points, 9 assists, 3 steals), Kay (11 points, 6 boards, 7 assists, a block). Minnesota was led by Smith (28 points), Dirks (16 points, 2 steals, a block), Daniels (9 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, a block).
Detroit have won their last 5 games and improve to 48-14. They remain at #1 in the Central and stay at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. After the loss, Minnesota fall to 34-28 and 19-10 at home. They fall to #4 in the Northwest and drop to #8 overall in the Western Conference.
