CVBL: Phoenix Tops Indiana
Celaya made 45 points, leading Phoenix to a great 99-90 win over Indiana. Although some pundits were predicting a blowout, the two teams delivered a memorable game that left the fans on the edges of their seats until the very end. "It's one of those games that nobody should have to lose," said Phoenix coach Bob. "I'm definitely glad it wasn't us."
Indiana coach Coach Hitch will be rethinking some of his choices for some time. "I thought we tried the right things at the right times, but of course hindsight is perfect. Obviously not everything we did worked, though, and in a game like this that could have made the difference."
Phoenix was led by Celaya (45 points, a steal, 2 blocks), Mercer (13 points, 6 steals), Hunt (7 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks). Indiana was led by Wade (27 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Mack (9 points, 8 assists, a steal), Battle (15 points, a steal, a block).
Phoenix jump to 33-32 and 20-14 at home. They hold at #3 in the Pacific and hold at #9 overall in the Western Conference. Indiana drop to 24-39 after today's defeat. They remain at #3 in the Central and hold at #10 overall in the Eastern Conference.
