CVBL: Phoenix Beats New York
Phoenix overcame a great game by Crawford, beating New York 104-95. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Bob. "If we had another couple players like Crawford out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Bob has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Crawford) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.
The normally-quiet Crawford was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."
Phoenix was led by Dupree (26 points, a steal), Brown (10 points, 18 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Mercer (7 points, 6 boards, 8 assists, 4 steals). New York was led by Crawford (13 points, 15 boards, 0 assists), Fuller (15 points, a steal, a block), Speight (14 points).
Phoenix stand at 34-32 with the win. They stay at #3 in the Pacific and remain at #9 overall in the Western Conference. With the loss, New York fall to 29-33 and 15-17 at home. They stay at #4 in the Atlantic and remain at #7 overall in the Eastern Conference.
