CVBL: Memphis Cruises Past Toronto
Memphis overpowered Toronto today, showing who is the better team. Most around the league expected this kind of result, but Toronto head coach Bob was defiant until game time. "Underdogs, my ----. We've got enough talent and enough heart to play with anybody in the league." Afterwards, his tune had changed significantly. "We've got some work ahead of us before we can play at their level."
The only bright point for Toronto was the great play by Pearson, and Bob was quick to praise his star. "If the whole team had played with his energy, we'd have been able to play with Memphis. The bright side is that we know what he can do against them, and we'll try to build on that for our next meeting."
Memphis was led by Brown (15 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Hayes (24 points), Jensen (19 points, a steal, a block). Toronto was led by Pearson (7 points, 16 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Perkins (21 points, a block), Harper (9 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks).
Memphis jump to 45-19 and 22-7 at home. They hold at #1 in the Southwest and remain at #3 overall in the Western Conference. Toronto stand at 31-31. They remain at #4 in the Atlantic and hold at #7 overall in the Eastern Conference.
