CVBL: Miami Upends Phoenix

An order of bad sushi made all the difference today as Miami upset the favored Phoenix 101-93. Jasper had a huge game for Miami, spoiling an otherwise solid performance by Phoenix star Dupree in a game that could have post-season implications.

Phoenix apparantly had dinner together as team last night at a local sushi bar with most unfortunate results. Several team members spent the night in the hospital, while other team members got very little sleep as they rotated turns at their hotel room's toilets. The fatigue was evident from the beginning.

"You feel sorry for them," quipped Miami coach Bob. "That's a terrible thing to happen to anybody, but we had a job to do. There's no charity in this game." Phoenix coach Bob was apologetic to Phoenix fans. "Obviously we didn't see this coming, and I regret that we couldn't put a better product on the field today. I thought we still had enough to win, but it just wasn't going to happen."

Miami was led by Jasper (16 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals, a block), Jackson (25 points), Mcclendon (9 points, 11 boards, 2 assists). Phoenix was led by Dupree (22 points, 2 assists), Hunt (17 points, 1 assists, 4 blocks), Celaya (22 points, a steal, 2 blocks).

With this win, Miami improve to 25-39. They remain at #4 in the Southeast and stay at #10 overall in the Eastern Conference. With today's defeat, Phoenix fall to 34-33 and 20-15 at home. They remain at #3 in the Pacific and remain at #9 overall in the Western Conference.
