CVBL: Put it on the Board: Detroit Wins
It has been a nightmare season for veteran coach Bob and his team. The bright points have been few and far between, as the team is looking for somewhere to hide. Today's game was equally painful, as the team opened up strong but collapsed down the stretch, failing to take advantages of numerous opportunities to get back in the game. Henderson helped put the nail in the coffin today with his outstanding game.
"Bob talked a lot of junk before the start of the season." stated Detroit Henderson. "They may be one of the worst teams in the league, but we know that everyone in that locker room wants to play just a little harder when they see Phoenix on their schedule."
"Sure, they do stink." added head coach David Smith, "but look at what happened when teams have been overconfident against them. Not that I can really blame them. If we were that pathetic, I think I would rather play all rookies and lose that way then be embarrassed."
Detroit was led by Henderson (10 points, 20 boards, 3 assists, 5 blocks), Gilliam (19 points, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Kay (21 points, a block). Phoenix was led by Dupree (17 points, 12 boards, 0 assists), Virtue (16 points, a steal), Hunt (7 points, 8 boards, 1 assists).
Detroit have been victorious in the past 14 games and jump to 63-6 and 35-0 at home. They have clinched the Central title and hold at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. Phoenix stand at 32-38 with this defeat. They stay at #3 in the Pacific and remain at #11 overall in the Western Conference.
