CVBL: Memphis Clobbers Golden State 99-67
A great Memphis team and a mediocre Golden State team met today, the result being an expected 99-67 drubbing. Memphis took control from the outset, never appearing troubled in the least. Said Memphis coach Bob, "We've got a good group of players this year, and they pulled off the win just like we drew it up. Frankly Golden State isn't exactly tough opposition, but it was still nice to come out with the big win."
Golden State coach Perez Suarez seemed resigned to the loss even before the game, saying "We're just hoping to keep them from running away with it and not look bad. Even that will take a bit of luck; we just don't match up with these guys."
Memphis was led by Hunter (8 points, 11 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks), Canul (18 points, 9 boards, 0 assists), Casarez (20 points, a block). Golden State was led by Perez (13 points, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Salas (14 points, 1 assists, a block), Lynn (5 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, a block).
Memphis improve to 51-18 and 27-8 at home with today's win. They stay at #1 in the Southwest and hold at #2 overall in the Western Conference. With this loss, Golden State stand at 13-59. They remain at #5 in the Pacific and hold at #15 overall in the Western Conference.
