CVBL: Washington 94, Toronto 84 in Upset Win
A gutsy outing by Washington, combined with a few breaks, gave them a 94-84 upset of Toronto. Toronto was the favorite coming in, and it showed when they were sharp. But Toronto played their hearts out and stuck around, which put them in position to capitalize on what chances they were given. "They played about the perfect game, given the team's talent," said Toronto coach Bob. "[Washington coach] Bob did a splendid job getting them ready for the game, and they didn't give us anything for free."
Said Washington star Griffin, "Coach just told us to go out there and stay focused. Told us that if we played a mistake-free game, it could be ours to win. And that's exactly what happened."
Washington was led by Griffin (11 points, 11 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals), Borenstein (9 points, 16 boards, 0 assists, 2 steals), Taylor (6 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks).
