CVBL: Denver Gets Win Over Orlando
Denver beat Orlando today, 104-94. But the big headlines in the game came from an incident involving Orlando players and coach Bob after the game. After the players disappeared into their respective locker rooms, Orlando players reportedly attacked coach, throwing him to the ground. Reporters waiting outside heard only pieces of the shouting, but the players were clearly upset by Bob's questionable calls late in the game. Orlando star Wright was one of those involved, and was still upset about the situation during the post-game interviews. "I'm not free to comment on what happened," he said. "But I will tell you that I'm working my tail off every game and expect the same effort from my teammates and coaches."
Interviews with Denver players were a bit less exciting, with Schmidt giving the cliche line "we're just happy to come out with the win. Coach Bob and his team gave a good fight, but we were the better team today."
Denver was led by Schmidt (23 points, 1 assists, 3 steals), White (18 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Ferguson (12 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks). Orlando was led by Wright (23 points, a block), Vancourt (19 points, 1 assists, a steal), Feliu (16 points).
Denver jump to 42-28 with the victory. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and remain at #5 overall in the Western Conference. Orlando fall to 30-40 and 22-15 at home after the loss. They stay at #2 in the Southeast and remain at #9 overall in the Eastern Conference.
