CVBL: Sacramento 87, Phoenix 85
Sacramento overcame a great game by Dupree, beating Phoenix 87-85. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Bob. "If we had another couple players like Dupree out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Bob has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Dupree) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.
The normally-quiet Dupree was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."
Sacramento was led by Stanford (15 points, 22 boards, 4 assists, 2 blocks), Bravo (27 points, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Taylor (5 points, 11 assists). Phoenix was led by Dupree (25 points, 16 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Celaya (26 points, a steal, 3 blocks), Hughes (5 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, 2 blocks).
With this victory, Sacramento improve to 51-20. They improve to #1 in the Pacific and move up to #1 overall in the Western Conference. Phoenix fall to 32-39 and 20-17 at home after the defeat. They hold at #3 in the Pacific and remain at #11 overall in the Western Conference.
