CVBL: Phoenix Surprises Analysts and New Orleans in Overtime
New Orleans coach Bob was thoroughly shocked as he watched his team lose 128-119 in overtime to Phoenix. "I can't believe we lost today," said the New Orleans coach. "We can play much better than this. I think our players just looked at who we were playing and softened up a bit. I mean, really, Phoenix aren't exactly top-quality competition. The only player that played big was Howie." Howie played a solid game for New Orleans, but it wouldn't be enough as Phoenix hung on for dear life and then brought a killer blow in overtime.
Phoenix was led by Taylor (35 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, 2 blocks), Smith (8 points, 2 steals), Bryant (19 points, 6 boards, 0 assists). New Orleans was led by Howie (40 points, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Dennis (5 points, 3 steals), Cummings (17 points, 2 steals).
Phoenix ended their losing streak at 5 games, and stand at 17-53 and 10-27 at home. They move up to #3 in the Pacific and advance to #13 overall in the Western Conference. New Orleans stand at 41-29. They drop to #3 in the Southwest and fall to #5 overall in the Western Conference.
