CVBL: Philadelphia Surprises Miami 121-112
A great outing by Simmons was enough to offset a superior Miami team and key a 121-112 upset by Philadelphia. There's no question that Miami is the better team, and even after today's loss they remain ranked ahead of Philadelphia. But that wasn't important today, when Simmons took over and carried his team to a win. "What a gift," grinned Philadelphia coach Bob. "The rest of the team got outplayed, but Simmons stepped up and got us the win. No complaints, but we'd be surprised to get another win over Miami."
Said losing coach Bob, "What a tough way to lose. It seemed like we had everything under control today. We pretty much did what we wanted, except for Simmons."
Philadelphia was led by Simmons (30 points, 9 boards, 0 assists), Garcia (27 points, 1 assists), Franklin (13 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 2 blocks). Miami was led by Perry (23 points, 9 boards, 0 assists, a block), Dupree (20 points), Stewart (20 points, a steal).
Philadelphia jump to 41-29 after the win. They hold at #2 in the Atlantic and hold at #7 overall in the Eastern Conference. With today's defeat, Miami are now 46-25 and 25-11 at home. They remain at #1 in the Southeast and fall to #3 overall in the Eastern Conference.
