CVBL: Boston Upsets Denver
A great outing by James was enough to offset a superior Denver team and key a 92-85 upset by Boston. There's no question that Denver is the better team, and even after today's loss they remain ranked ahead of Boston. But that wasn't important today, when James took over and carried his team to a win. "What a gift," grinned Boston coach Bob. "The rest of the team got outplayed, but James stepped up and got us the win. No complaints, but we'd be surprised to get another win over Denver."
Said losing coach Bob, "What a tough way to lose. It seemed like we had everything under control today. We pretty much did what we wanted, except for James."
Boston was led by James (17 points, 4 assists, a steal), Woodard (12 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Morse (17 points, a steal). Denver was led by Phillips (26 points, 11 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Ferguson (12 points, 0 assists, a steal, a block), Beachum (13 points, a steal).
With today's win, Boston stand at 27-45. They stay at #5 in the Atlantic and stay at #11 overall in the Eastern Conference. After today's loss, Denver are now 42-29 and 22-14 at home. They remain at #2 in the Northwest and remain at #5 overall in the Western Conference.
