CVBL: Memphis Coasts Past Minnesota

Washington was unstoppable today, leading Memphis to a 105-81 win over Minnesota. "I've never seen anything like that," said Minnesota star Dirks. "Washington just flat-out dominated, and there was nothing any of us could do about it." Agreed coach Bob, "He's an excellent talent with an excellent coach. I'm afraid that we'll be seeing more of him down the road."

Washington refused to get caught up in the excitement, however. "I just did what coach told me to do," he said. "And we couldn't have won without my teammates doing their best as well." While true, Washington certainly increased the margin of victory from a close call to a solid win.

Memphis was led by Washington (21 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Murray (25 points, 2 assists, a steal), Brown (11 points, 14 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks). Minnesota was led by Dirks (10 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, 4 blocks), Powers (16 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block), Patterson (10 points, 10 boards, 0 assists, a block).

With today's victory, Memphis are now 50-22 and 26-8 at home. They have clinched the Southwest title and hold at #3 overall in the Western Conference. With the loss, Minnesota are now 34-38. They hold at #5 in the Northwest and move down to #10 overall in the Western Conference.
