CVBL: Minnesota Upsets Memphis 94-88

A gutsy outing by Minnesota, combined with a few breaks, gave them a 94-88 upset of Memphis. Memphis was the favorite coming in, and it showed when they were sharp. But Memphis played their hearts out and stuck around, which put them in position to capitalize on what chances they were given. "They played about the perfect game, given the team's talent," said Memphis coach Bob. "[Minnesota coach] Bob did a splendid job getting them ready for the game, and they didn't give us anything for free."

Said Minnesota star Jaramillo, "Coach just told us to go out there and stay focused. Told us that if we played a mistake-free game, it could be ours to win. And that's exactly what happened."

Minnesota was led by Jaramillo (10 points, 24 boards, 3 assists, 3 blocks), Walz (12 points, 4 steals), Nordman (14 points, 9 boards, 0 assists, a steal, a block). Memphis was led by Canul (16 points, 21 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks), Wilkins (11 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 4 steals, 3 blocks), Tompkins (23 points, a steal).

Minnesota stand at 43-28 and 30-9 at home. They remain at #1 in the Northwest and hold at #3 overall in the Western Conference. Memphis stand at 52-19. They stay at #1 in the Southwest and stay at #2 overall in the Western Conference.
