CVBL: Washington Upends Denver 98-85
Washington came out solid today, defying the predictions and notching the 98-85 upset of Denver. "Somebody forgot to tell them they were underdogs," quipped Denver coach Bob after the game. "No question, they were the better team out there today and deserved this win. I thought we came in prepared, but that was just a lot better than we've seen Washington play for some time."
Credit has to be given to Washington coach Bob, who brought his team together after some tough losses earlier and has them playing at their best. "Some of the us really took those losses hard," said star Butler. "But coach sat us down and showed us what we were doing wrong and what we needed to do to turn around. That was great to hear, and you saw the results today."
Washington was led by Butler (18 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks), Powell (9 points, 9 assists, 2 steals), Reynolds (14 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks). Denver was led by Downs (17 points, 14 boards, 1 assists, a block), Drew (6 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, 6 blocks), Shaw (15 points, 3 assists, a steal).
Washington are now 34-39 and 17-18 at home with the victory. They remain at #3 in the Southeast and hold at #9 overall in the Eastern Conference. After this loss, Denver drop to 40-33. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and stay at #5 overall in the Western Conference.
