CVBL: Memphis Cruises to 95-81 Win over Atlanta

Whitfield led Memphis to a big 95-81 win over Atlanta in this evening's matchup. "We figured we could play with them, but Whitfield really surprised us," said Atlanta coach Bob. "He really took us out of our game plan, and we never really figured out how to stop him. We'll just have to hope for a more normal performance next time we meet, and hopefully the final tally will be a little closer."

Memphis coach Bob was enthusiastic about his star's performance. "That was really something, wasn't it? Certainly we take a realistic expectation into each game, but it really gives the whole team confidence to know that Whitfield can pull off a game like he did today."

Memphis was led by Whitfield (22 points, 14 boards, 0 assists), Dimascio (15 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 3 blocks), Manly (14 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, a steal, a block). Atlanta was led by Baker (12 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, a steal, a block), Wade (18 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a block), Chandler (6 points, 2 steals, a block).

Memphis improve to 54-17 with today's win. They remain at #1 in the Southwest and hold at #1 overall in the Western Conference. Atlanta are now 31-43 and 22-16 at home. They stay at #4 in the Southeast and stay at #12 overall in the Eastern Conference.
