CVBL: Detroit Takes Out Miami in a Big Win for David Smith
A great outing by Lacroix was enough to offset a superior Miami team and key a 103-95 upset by Detroit. There's no question that Miami is the better team, and even after today's loss they remain ranked ahead of Detroit. But that wasn't important today, when Lacroix took over and carried his team to a win. "What a gift," grinned Detroit coach David Smith. "The rest of the team got outplayed, but Lacroix stepped up and got us the win. No complaints, but we'd be surprised to get another win over Miami."
Said losing coach Bob, "What a tough way to lose. It seemed like we had everything under control today. We pretty much did what we wanted, except for Lacroix."
Detroit was led by Lacroix (31 points, 15 boards, 0 assists, a steal), White (8 points, 18 boards, 3 assists), Martin (18 points, a block). Miami was led by James (31 points, 0 assists, a block), Perry (18 points, 0 assists, a block), Byrd (7 points, 0 assists, 4 blocks).
With the victory, Detroit jump to 43-30 and 22-13 at home. They stay at #2 in the Central and improve to #5 overall in the Eastern Conference. Miami stand at 46-27. They hold at #1 in the Southeast and remain at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference.
