CVBL: Philadelphia Comes up Big Over Washington
A solid outing by Austin led Philadelphia to a 105-95 win over Washington. "Take away Austin, and we'd have won this thing," said Washington coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Philadelphia over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
Philadelphia coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Austin do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Austin will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
Philadelphia was led by Austin (25 points, a steal, a block), Burke (19 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a steal), Ziegler (14 points). Washington was led by Davis (14 points, 3 steals, a block), Borenstein (21 points, 7 boards, 0 assists), Banks (21 points, 2 assists, a block).
Philadelphia improve to 40-34 and 29-10 at home. They stay at #3 in the Atlantic and remain at #5 overall in the Eastern Conference. Washington fall to 25-47. They hold at #3 in the Southeast and hold at #12 overall in the Eastern Conference.
