CVBL: Philadelphia Gets Tough Overtime Win
Few games live up to the hype, but today's thriller did all that and then some. Things started off a little slow, but the intensity picked up quickly. Neither sides was able to gain much of an advantage, but Atlanta appeared to be gaining the momentum for a decisive run late in the game. Philadelphia refused to stand by and watch the hard work go to waste, and was able to recover enough to send the game into overtime.
Before overtime began, coach Bob had some words with his team, encouraging them to keep the pressure on. Although not the screaming and yelling that Bob is known for, the talk had its desired effect, and Philadelphia came out on top in the end.
Philadelphia was led by Alston (16 points, 5 boards, 15 assists, 4 steals, 3 blocks), Thompson (21 points, 0 assists, 4 blocks), Phelan (22 points). Atlanta was led by Blackman (13 points, 26 boards, 3 assists, a block), Sonnier (16 points, 4 assists, 2 steals), Scott (8 points, 9 assists, 2 steals).
Philadelphia are now 51-21. They remain at #1 in the Atlantic and stay at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta stand at 24-48 and 18-19 at home. They stay at #5 in the Southeast and remain at #14 overall in the Eastern Conference.
