CVBL: LA Clippers Upsets Memphis
A much-improved LA Clippers team pulled off the 91-84 upset of Memphis today. "That's the best we've played all season," said LA Clippers coach Adnan Bislimovic. "I've seen that potential in us all along, but for some reason it hasn't come out during games. Hopefully this outing can be the turning point for us that we can build on in future games."
Memphis was caught off-guard by new-look LA Clippers. "What we got out there today wasn't what we had seen before or on tape, even in their best games. So while we always try to prepare for the worst, we had no idea that they could play as well as they did today. I still think we can beat them, and next time we'll have an idea what to look for."
LA Clippers was led by Newton (13 points, 2 steals), Feaster (17 points, 11 boards, 1 assists), Jenkins (16 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a block). Memphis was led by Whitfield (16 points, 21 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Chatman (17 points, 6 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals), Calloway (18 points, 1 assists, 3 steals).
LA Clippers stand at 52-21 and 31-5 at home. They clinched the Pacific crown and hold at #3 overall in the Western Conference. Memphis are now 54-18. They have won the Southwest championship and remain at #1 overall in the Western Conference.
