CVBL: Denver and Toronto Down to the Wire

Denver downed Toronto today 90-81, thanks to a solid effort by star Simmons. The game lived up to its hype, with both teams having their moments but neither side able to dominate for any extended length of time. Said Simmons after the game, "This one could have easily gone either way. We're just glad that we came out with the win." Coach Bob echoed the sentiments, saying "Toronto came out strong and ready to play, and we knew from the start that it would be a battle out there. Probably if we played them 10 times, both sides would get five wins. But we got the win today, and that's what counts."

Toronto players were disappointed after the game, and coach Bob had his hands full keeping their spirits up. "They know they played their hearts out today, and that it wasn't enough. That's a tough feeling. Especially for Henderson, who had one heck of a game but couldn't carry the whole team on his shoulders."

Denver was led by Simmons (18 points, 12 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Stanford (12 points, 8 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Hayes (14 points, a block). Toronto was led by Henderson (14 points, 15 boards, 2 assists, a block), Davis (17 points, 0 assists, a block), Way (6 points, 1 assists, 4 blocks).

With today's win, Denver improve to 55-19 and 30-9 at home. They clinched the Northwest championship and hold at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Toronto stand at 25-49. They remain at #5 in the Atlantic and hold at #15 overall in the Eastern Conference.
