CVBL: Put it on the Board: Memphis Wins
Memphis showed their mettle today with a convincing 111-89 win over New Orleans. "After some of the games we've had, I think we've left some doubt as to whether we can solidly beat anybody," said head coach Bob after the game. "I don't know that one game will erase those doubts, but I can certainly see the difference in the locker room."
The win came largely as the result of a great effort by Hunter, the Memphis star. Said Bob of him, "The game would have gone down to the wire without Hunter's efforts today. He really made the difference between another tough battle and a dominating win."
Memphis was led by Hunter (7 points, 9 boards, 14 assists, 4 steals), Thomas (20 points, 0 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Pittman (14 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, a steal, a block). New Orleans was led by Forde (14 points, 17 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Bravo (10 points), Dunbar (17 points, 2 blocks).
Memphis improve to 54-19 after today's victory. They remain at #1 in the Southwest and stay at #2 overall in the Western Conference. New Orleans drop to 27-45 and 16-20 at home with this loss. They stay at #5 in the Southwest and hold at #13 overall in the Western Conference.
