CVBL: Brooklyn Clobbers Chicago
A great game by Owens led Brooklyn to a 126-103 defeat of Chicago. Although Chicago certainly planned for Owens in their pre-game strategy, stopping him during the game turned out to be more of a challenge. "We thought we knew how to beat Brooklyn, but we were dead wrong," said Chicago coach Bob. "We figured we'd try to put them out of their game plan and try to limit Owens's effectiveness, but it simply didn't happen - he was just too good."
Said Owens, "I knew I had a target on my back, and took it as a challenge. If they're going to change their game plan to stop me, it gives me that much more desire to step up and perservere. Anyway, they know what I can do now, so we'll see if they dare try this strategy again." Tune in next time.
Brooklyn was led by Owens (30 points, 8 boards, 11 assists, a steal), Tucker (28 points), Hargrove (9 points, 11 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 4 blocks). Chicago was led by Joyner (17 points, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Wilson (15 points, a steal), Sigler (16 points, 1 assists, a steal, a block).
Brooklyn jump to 52-21 and 30-9 at home. They remain at #1 in the Atlantic and remain at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. After today's defeat, Chicago fall to 41-32. They stay at #4 in the Central and hold at #8 overall in the Eastern Conference.
