CVBL: Oklahoma Cty Gets a Big Win Against Philadelphia
Oklahoma Cty pulled off the upset, beating Philadelphia in a game where nobody gave them much of a chance. Their prospects certainly looked bleak on paper, with most predictions giving Philadelphia a solid win thanks to better skill at most positions. But head coach Bob came up with a marvelous game plan and kept Philadelphia coach Bob guessing most of the game. This, as well as a number of solid performances by Pollard and others, gave Oklahoma Cty the edge they needed to come out on top. "I think we caught them by surprise," said Bob after the game. "They played like they expected the win to be handed to them, but we made some adjustments after studying their tendencies and it paid off."
Oklahoma Cty was led by Pollard (8 points, 10 assists, 3 steals), Smith (14 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, a block), Uriegas (9 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks). Philadelphia was led by Simmons (18 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block), Franklin (18 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Roberson (5 points, 2 steals).
Oklahoma Cty improve to 30-43 and 18-18 at home. They hold at #3 in the Northwest and remain at #9 overall in the Western Conference. After today's loss, Philadelphia are now 43-31. They remain at #2 in the Atlantic and drop to #6 overall in the Eastern Conference.
