CVBL: Denver Steals Spotlight from Phoenix

In one of the most important games of the season for both teams, Denver upstaged Phoenix 109-93. Showing more glitter than a Brittany Spears concert, perfect Denver execution, a brilliant game by Smith, and impeccable play-calling by Bob provided all the right ingredients for a big win.

Adams was key for Phoenix, but after the game he looked like somebody had just run over his dog. "I thought we could do it. The whole game I was still thinking we were going to win. I guess that's the difference between thinking it and doing it. Give Denver credit - they are nothing but class. I just feel sorry for coach Bob. He had us ready and we let him down."

Denver was led by Smith (18 points, 9 assists, 2 steals, a block), Downs (23 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, a steal), Shaw (24 points, 2 blocks). Phoenix was led by Adams (24 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Brodsky (20 points, 1 assists, 2 steals, a block), Bell (8 points, 3 assists, 2 blocks).

Denver are now 42-33 with the win. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and remain at #5 overall in the Western Conference. With the loss, Phoenix drop to 38-36 and 21-15 at home. They remain at #2 in the Pacific and remain at #7 overall in the Western Conference.
