CVBL: Atlanta Upends San Antonio
Atlanta pulled off the upset, beating San Antonio in a game where nobody gave them much of a chance. Their prospects certainly looked bleak on paper, with most predictions giving San Antonio a solid win thanks to better skill at most positions. But head coach Bob came up with a marvelous game plan and kept San Antonio coach Bob guessing most of the game. This, as well as a number of solid performances by Wade and others, gave Atlanta the edge they needed to come out on top. "I think we caught them by surprise," said Bob after the game. "They played like they expected the win to be handed to them, but we made some adjustments after studying their tendencies and it paid off."
Atlanta was led by Wade (27 points, 10 boards, 3 assists, a block), Contreras (21 points, 3 assists), Conner (19 points, a steal). San Antonio was led by Mudd (30 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Duncan (20 points, 18 boards, 0 assists), Almanzar (15 points, a steal).
Atlanta are now 33-43 and 24-16 at home. They remain at #4 in the Southeast and stay at #12 overall in the Eastern Conference. San Antonio fall to 38-36 after this defeat. They remain at #4 in the Southwest and stay at #7 overall in the Western Conference.
