CVBL: Chicago Beats Odds and Detroit
Coming in as heavy underdogs, Chicago turned some heads today with a solid 95-85 win over Detroit. Said one broadcaster, "I didn't know Chicago were that good, quite frankly. They really haven't done much all season, but the way they came in and handled Detroit showed what they're capable of."
The thoughts were echoed by Detroit coach David Smith. "We had pretty thorough film sessions coming into the game, and we never saw them execute that well. [Chicago coach] Bob did a great job getting them ready, and we'll have to see if this was a one-time performance or if they can maintain that level of play."
Chicago was led by Wilson (9 points, 6 boards, 15 assists, a steal), Horton (24 points, 11 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Sigler (29 points, a block). Detroit was led by Price (15 points, 6 boards, 11 assists, 2 steals), Day (21 points, 2 assists, a steal), Lacroix (12 points, 11 boards, 1 assists).
Chicago jump to 42-33 and 26-14 at home after this victory. They remain at #4 in the Central and hold at #8 overall in the Eastern Conference. With this defeat, Detroit drop to 44-31. They stay at #2 in the Central and remain at #5 overall in the Eastern Conference.
