CVBL: New York Gets Win Over Atlanta
Powell continues to dominate the league and helped New York post an expected win over Atlanta, 102-93. The game was a solid team effort, but Powell - a favorite for post-season honors - was outstanding, completely overshadowing a great performance by Atlanta key player, Perry.
Powell's coach, Bob, had nothing but praise for his star. "He's just special. It's something just to sit back and watch him do his thing. He certainly brings pride to New York fans everywhere." Atlanta coach Bob was concilliatory after the game as well. "When Powell is doing his thing, you just hope you can keep him under control. We didn't, though Perry certainly did his part. We really thought we could win this game, so the locker room is pretty quiet right now. We'll just have to turn our focus to next week."
New York was led by Powell (22 points, 15 boards, 3 assists, a steal), Crawford (23 points, 1 assists, 4 blocks), Battle (18 points, a steal, a block). Atlanta was led by Perry (21 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, a block), Mcnair (17 points, 5 blocks), Souza (16 points, 3 assists, a steal, a block).
After today's victory, New York jump to 53-22. They remain at #1 in the Atlantic and hold at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta have lost their last 7 games and are now 23-53 and 15-23 at home. They fall to #5 in the Southeast and drop to #14 overall in the Eastern Conference.
