CVBL: Toronto 107, Memphis 88 in Upset Win
"Toronto Cheat Memphis," screamed the headlines this morning after some questionable officiating in last night's contest. Even neutral observers wonder whether the set of refs will ever be asked to call another game, as Toronto got the benefit of every marginal call and a few others that were obviously bad. "The game was rigged more than the WWF," said an upset Memphis coach Bob after the game. "You've seen the replays. I don't need to say any more." League officials were slower to jump to conclusions, but an anonymous source said that the commissioner was watching the broadcast and couldn't believe his eyes in some cases. "The commish was saying he could have made better calls off his 5 inch travel TV."
Toronto was led by Moore (27 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Horne (14 points, 14 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, a block), Whitaker (10 points, 2 steals, a block). Memphis was led by Tompkins (27 points, 0 assists), Canul (5 points, 11 boards, 0 assists, 4 blocks), Wilkins (10 points, 5 assists, a steal).
Toronto improve to 41-35 and 26-11 at home. They hold at #3 in the Atlantic and remain at #6 overall in the Eastern Conference. With the loss, Memphis are now 55-20. They have clinched the Southwest crown and hold at #2 overall in the Western Conference.
