CVBL: Bob Gets Big Win over Oklahoma Cty
Philadelphia showed who was the better team tonight with a convincing 111-97 win over Oklahoma Cty. Although not exactly a blowout, Philadelphia coach Bob and his players outplayed Oklahoma Cty from start to end. "I was hoping for a better outcome," said Oklahoma Cty coach Bob during a post-game interview. "But they just overpowered us, and there was nothing we could do to adjust. Bob's team was more talented and better-prepared, and it would have taken quite a bit of luck for us to overcome that."
The loss was tough on Oklahoma Cty fans, who had expected great things from their team after some offseason moves. "I think reality is starting to sink in," said one team. "We didn't expect to see other teams outplaying us this badly, but Philadelphia sure made their point."
Philadelphia was led by Franklin (25 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Simmons (18 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, 2 steals), Garcia (22 points, a steal). Oklahoma Cty was led by Pollard (9 points, 9 boards, 10 assists, 2 steals), Uriegas (7 points, 11 boards, 3 assists, a steal), Smith (13 points, 2 assists, a steal).
Philadelphia improve to 44-32 and 25-14 at home. They remain at #2 in the Atlantic and advance to #5 overall in the Eastern Conference. Oklahoma Cty drop to 30-46. They remain at #3 in the Northwest and remain at #9 overall in the Western Conference.
