CVBL: Orlando Pulls out the Win over Chicago
Davis made 40 points, leading Orlando to a 105-96 win over Chicago. "Take away Davis, and we'd have won this thing," said Chicago coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Orlando over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
Orlando coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Davis do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Davis will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
Orlando was led by Davis (40 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, a block), Frazier (16 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 3 blocks), Hervey (5 points, 6 assists, 2 steals). Chicago was led by Logan (10 points, 2 assists, 5 blocks), Mayes (18 points), Glover (9 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks).
Orlando improve to 31-45. They remain at #4 in the Southeast and move up to #11 overall in the Eastern Conference. With this defeat, Chicago drop to 30-46 and 18-18 at home. They hold at #4 in the Central and hold at #13 overall in the Eastern Conference.
