CVBL: Golden State Surprises Denver
Golden State beat favored Denver today 96-81, perhaps serving notice that their time has come. Said Golden State coach Perez Suarez, "It's been a bit of a struggle this season, but I think we are finally getting things turned around a bit. The players are finally picking up on some of the finer points of our system, and I think we have a bright future ahead."
This comes as poorly-timed news for Denver coach Bob, whose team was blindsided by Golden State. "It's tough to prepare for a game in which your opponent plays vastly better than they ever had before," he said. "You try to pick up on tendencies and weaknesses by watching tapes, but Perez Suarez has overhauled Golden State so much that aside from the uniforms, I'd have thought it was an entirely different group of players out there."
Golden State was led by Adkins (16 points, 18 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Moore (22 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, a block), Casterline (21 points, 5 boards, 2 assists). Denver was led by Phillips (20 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), White (8 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a block), Schmidt (10 points, 2 steals).
Golden State jump to 20-56 and 16-23 at home with today's win. They hold at #5 in the Pacific and remain at #15 overall in the Western Conference. Denver drop to 44-33. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and remain at #5 overall in the Western Conference.
