CVBL: Detroit Handles Cleveland 104-85
Martin was unstoppable today, leading Detroit to a 104-85 win over Cleveland. "I've never seen anything like that," said Cleveland star Smith. "Martin just flat-out dominated, and there was nothing any of us could do about it." Agreed coach Bob, "He's an excellent talent with an excellent coach. I'm afraid that we'll be seeing more of him down the road."
Martin refused to get caught up in the excitement, however. "I just did what coach told me to do," he said. "And we couldn't have won without my teammates doing their best as well." While true, Martin certainly increased the margin of victory from a close call to a solid win.
Detroit was led by Martin (20 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, a block), Price (5 points, 12 assists, 3 steals), White (10 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block). Cleveland was led by Smith (14 points, 4 assists, 4 steals), Scurry (13 points, 2 steals, a block), Newcomb (16 points, 2 blocks).
Detroit jump to 45-32 and 24-13 at home with today's win. They hold at #2 in the Central and stay at #6 overall in the Eastern Conference. With this loss, Cleveland fall to 42-36. They stay at #5 in the Central and remain at #9 overall in the Eastern Conference.
