CVBL: Boston Takes Out Philadelphia
Boston pulled off a huge upset today, beating Philadelphia 117-86. "An easy game on the schedule," remarked some Philadelphia players a couple weeks ago. "It'll be a nice day to rest up between some tougher games." Unfortunately those words were overheard by a reporter and ended up in the Boston bulletin board. "No question, we were fired up about this game," said star Odell afterwards. "Coach posted the newspaper clipping up, and we've been getting ready for this game ever since."
"I've never seen this team so eager to get out there and do damage before," said the winning coach, Bob, during his postgame interview. "I guess Bob ought to be putting duct tape over his players' mouths."
Boston was led by Odell (17 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, a steal), Stubbs (22 points, 2 assists, a steal, a block), Dubois (12 points, 8 boards, 1 assists). Philadelphia was led by Thompson (13 points, 2 blocks), Hargrove (10 points, 1 assists, 2 steals), Phelan (16 points, 0 assists).
Boston are now 31-45. They hold at #5 in the Atlantic and move up to #10 overall in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia are now 53-24 and 30-9 at home with the loss. They have clinched the Atlantic title and remain at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference.
