CVBL: Denver and Sacramento Down to the Wire

Denver overcame a great game by Paskowitz, beating Sacramento 105-96. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Bob. "If we had another couple players like Paskowitz out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Bob has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Paskowitz) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.

The normally-quiet Paskowitz was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."

Denver was led by Ortiz (19 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, a block), Simmons (16 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Stanford (7 points, 15 boards, 0 assists, a block). Sacramento was led by Paskowitz (19 points, 0 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Davis (7 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Westbrook (17 points).

With the win, Denver stand at 58-20 and 31-9 at home. They have clinched the Northwest crown and stay at #1 overall in the Western Conference. With the defeat, Sacramento drop to 25-52. They hold at #2 in the Pacific and remain at #11 overall in the Western Conference.
