CVBL: Milwaukee Takes Out Utah in a Big Win for Bob
A gutsy outing by Milwaukee, combined with a few breaks, gave them a 97-85 upset of Utah. Utah was the favorite coming in, and it showed when they were sharp. But Utah played their hearts out and stuck around, which put them in position to capitalize on what chances they were given. "They played about the perfect game, given the team's talent," said Utah coach Coach Young. "[Milwaukee coach] Bob did a splendid job getting them ready for the game, and they didn't give us anything for free."
Said Milwaukee star Ellison, "Coach just told us to go out there and stay focused. Told us that if we played a mistake-free game, it could be ours to win. And that's exactly what happened."
Milwaukee was led by Ellison (9 points, 8 steals, a block), Young (12 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals, 3 blocks), Trawick (11 points, 12 boards, 2 assists). Utah was led by Bush (19 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 4 blocks), Bernard (12 points, 16 boards, 0 assists, a block), Almanzar (17 points).
Milwaukee jump to 32-45 and 22-16 at home with today's victory. They hold at #3 in the Central and remain at #11 overall in the Eastern Conference. With this loss, Utah are now 41-37. They stay at #3 in the Northwest and remain at #6 overall in the Western Conference.
