CVBL: Houston Does What it Takes to Stun Memphis 100-84

Houston pulled off the upset, beating Memphis in a game where nobody gave them much of a chance. Their prospects certainly looked bleak on paper, with most predictions giving Memphis a solid win thanks to better skill at most positions. But head coach Bob came up with a marvelous game plan and kept Memphis coach Bob guessing most of the game. This, as well as a number of solid performances by Mackey and others, gave Houston the edge they needed to come out on top. "I think we caught them by surprise," said Bob after the game. "They played like they expected the win to be handed to them, but we made some adjustments after studying their tendencies and it paid off."

Houston was led by Mackey (19 points, 2 steals), Mcmasters (9 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, a steal), Joseph (14 points, a steal). Memphis was led by Dimascio (29 points, 1 assists, a block), Whitfield (12 points, 16 boards, 0 assists, a steal, a block), Chatman (9 points, 5 boards, 7 assists).

Houston have won their last 9 games and jump to 42-36 and 24-15 at home. They advance to #4 in the Southwest and improve to #6 overall in the Western Conference. Memphis stand at 55-22. They have won the Southwest crown and stay at #2 overall in the Western Conference.
