CVBL: Brooklyn Cruises to 102-85 Win over Orlando
A collapse by Orlando led to a 102-85 beating by Brooklyn, increasing the pressure on the Orlando coach. Bob had to suffer through the game as his players were ineffective and his former fans were heckling. To make matters worse, the team was dominated by hated Brooklyn, a bad thing for any Orlando coach.
"That ---- man can't win a ---- game if his ---- life depended on it!" screamed one disgruntled fan, who is obviously tired of Orlando losing ways. While Orlando deny it, rumors about that they have already started a search for a new coach who can turn this franchise around.
It was just more fuel for the fire today when Brooklyn took Orlando behind the woodpile for a 102-85 whooping. Although Vegas was predicting a Brooklyn win, many people believed the Orlando certainly had the talent to knock them off. Durham did everything in his power to help his coach, but in the end Owens led the Brooklyn to victory.
"You hate to see somebody with Bob's character go through this. It's just a sad sight," commented Brooklyn coach Bob. "We're obviously delighted to get the victory over such a worthy adversary in a big rivalry game like this, and all I can do is credit my players, my assistants, and our fans."
Brooklyn was led by Owens (39 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, a block), Jackson (8 points, 5 boards, 10 assists, a steal), Jeanlouis (13 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks). Orlando was led by Durham (19 points, 2 steals, a block), Small (7 points, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Thomas (13 points, 2 blocks).
Brooklyn stand at 54-24 and 31-9 at home after this victory. They have clinched the Atlantic title and remain at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. Orlando stand at 35-43 with today's loss. They remain at #3 in the Southeast and stay at #11 overall in the Eastern Conference.
