CVBL: Chicago 104, New York 97 in Upset Win
Chicago lead the Eastern Conference First Round 1-0 after getting just enough breaks to upset New York, 104-97. The pace of play was clearly dictated by New York, showing who was the better team. But Chicago came up with the right plays at the right times to convert more scoring chances and come away with the win.
"We got our share of luck today," acknowledged Chicago coach Bob. "They pretty much dictated the game but we were able to get the job done when it mattered. Byrd really helped us out there; we couldn't have pulled it off without him."
Chicago was led by Byrd (28 points), Mcadoo (17 points, 3 assists, 2 blocks), Smith (9 points, 13 boards, 1 assists, a block). New York was led by Powell (18 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Gorman (8 points, 4 steals), Velazquez (18 points, 1 assists, a block).
